Welcome Home Carmelo AnthoNY

February 23, 2011 – Well it appears that New York and Carmelo AnthonNY have gotten their wish.  The Nuggets traded ‘Melo to the New York Knicks hoping to solve both teams problems.  While this season may still be lost as far as a championship goes, the trade has rejuvenated basketball within the city.  It has been a long time since we have seen a winning team and excitement back at Madison Square Garden, the basketball mecca of the world.

I was personally fortunate enough to attend Carmelo’s return to NYC and his first game as a NY Knick.  To say the Garden was explosive that night is an understatement indeed.  I captured some home video of the game and created a You Tube video and it can be viewed at the top of this post.  The Knicks wound up beating the Bucks that evening but the night will be remembered for the energy that ‘Melo brought back to NY.  In the video, a sold out MSG erupts when he is formally announced!  Certainly a night to remember for all NY Knicks fans.

As for the trade itself, Denver got Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, the Knicks 2014 first-round draft pick, the Warriors’ 2012 second-round pick, the Warriors’ 2013 second-round pick and $3 million in cash.  Anthony went to New York, along with Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman.
